Levels of support and their meaning

LEVELS OF SUPPORT

  • TALK THROUGH Step by step support from start to finish
  • GUIDANCE Help and support with specific areas of learning or routines
  • PROMPT Less Specific help through questioning
  • ERROR SPOTTING Highlight error through questioning unless safety critical (then discussion will be had)
  • SELF ERROR SPOTTING Student is able to highlight own mistakes when made and discuss them
  • NO HELP AND SUPPORT Student is able to do driving steps, routines or drive confidently with out and support from the instructor

I AM SAFE

I Am = Attitude. A positive attitude to learning and development is an essential part of progressive development. And a positive attitude to driving, being safe and responsible on the roads.

S = Sleep. Make sure you have had enough sleep before a lesson.

A = Alcohol. No alcohol consumed in the last 24hours.

F = Food. Don't turn up hungry - make sure you have eaten as this affects concentration.

E = Emotions. Are you emotionally ok - how we feel has a direct affect on how we learn and how we drive.

Nearside

Nearest to the pavement (passenger side)

Offside

Drivers side

Blind Spot

Any area where you cannot naturally see either ahead or to the rear or side with the use of mirrors.

Limit Point

The extent to which you can see on the road ahead

Dead Ground

An area on a road you cannot see due to hills or humps etc.

Jim was a lovely driving instructor, would definitely recommend him.

Jim is one of the nicest men I’ve met, he’s calm ,patient and very understanding. He gave my daughter the confidence and reassurance she needed to drive again and to seeing her through to passing her test ,1st time !!!🥳🥰.101% recommend !!!! Thanks Jim x
